We're going live on March 1st. If your mazurka is ready please pm it to Mary Rose or to me.
Thanks!

I'm still working on getting a recording. I should be able to have one by Friday if not sooner.

I recorded mine weeks ago. Just went to upload it and... the damned files are corrupted. First time that's ever happened. Guess it's back to the red dot horror...

Hi Peyton,

Ouch! So they don't play locally either...? Just a thought in case it was somehting to do with the upload process rather than the files themselves...

MaryRose isn't available to respond right now but I know she's received Ranghild's and Schubertian's pieces and has been listening to them herself so apparently she received them sucessfully. I'm not really involved in this part of it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The problem was totally on my end. The aif files were there and now... they ain't. So I've spent a frustrating morning trying to re-record. Not to worry, I'll do it. So far this is the best I've done. I call it the Red Dot Boogie... http://www.box.net/shared/pdsxvwrggw \:D

This happened to me too and I had to rerecord. In my case I think I had too many apps running while I was saving my edited file from Audacity. It had never happened before, and it happened to TWO files on the same day

I like to think there was a perfect recording in those files...but we'll never know now! ;\)

Sorry for your trouble!

I save every iteration of each file (Zoom file, Audacity file, exported MP3) -- which is why we're running out of room on our hard drive. So far I haven't lost anything (knocks on wood).

I just sent mine in.

I had to give up a good morning of skiing but it's done! Well, more or less. \:\) It's too bad I can't piece together all the good bits and pieces from the 20 or so takes I did. It never fails that when I finally get the passage I'm having the most trouble with done well I mess something else up... Now I'm listening to the Artur Rubinstein interpretation and not only is it of course 1000 times better it's also 30 seconds longer! Artur, how did you do it? \:\)

Me too .

And then you have to decide whether to use the take of the passage that was finally good or a better overall take, and it's hard to decide because you're so obsessed with the difficult bit.

It reminds me a little of my experience choosing a wedding dress. The clerk "helpfully" asked me if a particular dress didn't make me worry that my hips looked too big. I didn't have wide hips (at the time!), so it isn't an area I worry about. She thought differently!

I guess what I'm saying is that it's hard to be objective about yourself!

I have mine recorded and saved on my digital. I just need to get it on my computer and uploaded. Hopefully I will have time to do that today.

The part I hate the most is listening to each take, trying to decide which is the best one, none of them matching what you had envisioned when you started learning the piece.

I did a really good take of my mazurka last night, but one of my cats decided he HAD to be with me and started scratching on the glass in the door while I was recording. The Zoom picked it up loud and clear, so I had to redo.

While recording mine yesterday, I was in the middle of what was probably going to be the "perfect" (yeah right) take, when I heard "thump thump THUMP ..DING DONG"... the UPS man had left a package for my husband at our front door. With great chagrin, I turned off the recorder and retrieved the package. -20 or so takes later, I finally got it! (But we'll never know what pianistic perfection was lost to the UPS man)

I tried to record my mazurka a few minutes ago, only to discover that my poor little recorder is dead. I can play back old recordings but not make new ones. I was going to give up, since my setup makes it highly inconvenient to record directly to the computer. But then I changed my mind and dragged my keyboard around some narrow corners until it was relatively near the computer. In the end, I didn't get a fantastic recording OR performance, but something is better than nothing in this case.

Now to see if I can push the keyboard back around those corners and wedge it into its regular spot...

Pianolina - I just listened to your Mazurka and it's well worth the effort of lugging around the keyboard! Thanks!

Ah yes. He is my idol. (He held 30 notes each 1 second longer; or he held 60 notes each 1/2 second longer--it's just simple math, no?) ;\)
