OK, I just started playing this tonight and I LOVE it.....and I can actually make it sound close to how it is supposed to sound (at least to my ears). So, I remembered, Monica played this in the last recital and I went to listen to her version again...and....it's gone!!! Monica, did you delete?? The link didn't work and I really wanted to listen to it again!!

Thanks Monica, I am listening to his version as I type this!!! But, I do want to hear your version again, I remember it being very nice!
I almost didn't attempt it because I figured there would be no way I could play it, but to my surprise, I think I will be able to at least play it to my satisfaction!

Yes, I still say Cristofori's Dream is not easy (at least for me)! That was one reason I almost didn't attempt "Home", since you played it, I thought it must be above me at this point. But "Home" is definitely within my reach I believe! I was shocked that I just started playing right through it!!
My teacher (me, of course), yelled right out loud.....Whooooooaaaa!! You're doing a pretty nice job with that Rocky, keep up the good work!!! I even recorded the first couple of pages and listened to myself in amazement! Now, if someone else had been listening they might have covered their ears and ran for the exit, but as I said in another post recently, at least to my own ears I play the piano beautifully! :p
So what else of David Nevue's is around the same difficulty of this piece (if any are)?

I have played "Solitude" and enjoyed it.
I am going to try "Overcome" and maybe "Ascending with Angels" after "Home".
I tried listening to Kawaigirl's recording but savefile just doesn't work very well anymore. I will keep trying though!!
Kawaigirl, if I ever (ever being the key word) get "Home" to the point that it sounds good (not only to my own ears) I will post, but it will take some time I'm sure!!

Kawaigirl, I was finally able to download and listen to your recording of "Home".....wow....excellent job!! Sounds almost identical to David Nevue's version!!!
The more I work on this piece the more I am liking it!

Originally posted by Monica Kern: Solitude is by far the easiest, much easier than any of the others. I think it's a great first "real" song for any beginner. The Gift is slightly easier than Home, I think, but even prettier, imo. Overcome has few chords and a very predictable rhythm/pattern, but it's faster and if you make one false move it sounds hideous, so I think while it may be easier to LEARN it's harder to play WELL. I have also printed out the music for "One Night at Mozart's" and "Big Snow at Salzburg" which look comparable in difficulty but they're in my stack of to-be-learned music so I can't vouch personally for them yet. [/b] In two months I was able to play Overcome, variations, ascending with angels, and The Vigil. I was able to get these down due to the patterns they follow. Very predictable with only a few embellishments here and there. Do you think I would be capable of playing solitude, gift, or home. I am not much of a sight reader. I study the music to see what it is doing and listen to it before I attempt to play it and it makes it easy to play if the melody is not to intricate.

psychopianoman, if you have played those other pieces than I am quite sure you can play "Home". I have only been playing piano for a little over a year and am learning "Home" now. It is not all that difficult and yet I think it sounds great!

Hi Everyone,
It's nice to discover my music being discussed here. Thanks for all the comments.
In regards to "easy" songs of mine, in addition to "Solitude," which is probably the simplist song I've ever written, you might try these on for size:
1) The Emerald Valley 2) The Gift (mentioned here already) 3) No More Tears 4) Deep Heaven
Those are all pretty straight-forward. If you can play "Home," you can certainly play those, I think.
I'll also be making sheet music for "Wonderland" available soon, (in the next month or so) and that's also one of the simpler songs I've written.
And by the way, on the more "difficult" pieces of mine, a couple of you have made comments on the patterns in my music, and how once you see those, it makes them pretty simple. That's very true. Even if a song of mine LOOKS hard, once you sit down and figure out the pattern, it's not so tough after all, in most cases.
So be encouraged!
Good luck with these, and thanks again for your kind comments about my music.

Hi David, glad to see you here!! I'm a big fan. Only playing the piano about a year, but I am making progress (at least in my book).
All I have been playing lately is your music!! I've been working on "Deep Heaven" for about a week and can't get enough.
You are amazing! Keep sharing your gift with us!

David, welcome to the Adult Beginngers forum at PW! And Frank, thanks for "stopping in!" At least, in a way that's visible to the rest of us David, you really do have a lot of fans here, thanks especially to people like Monica who have introduced a lot of us to your music. Your music is really inspiring to me because I find it to be very "accessible" but not "simple," which makes it extremely satisfying to play.

Sharon, > You're a genuine celebrity! Nah, I'm not a celebrity! I'm just a piano player like y'all. I just happen to have a few CDs under my belt.
