At Wednesday nights lesson my teacher gave me this little piece as asked me to work on the first two lines. I think I managed to get the whole thing down after a few hours practice.

Let me know what you think of it! Its an excellent little beginner piece that could be developed upon.

Three months again I got a similar piece that took me almost two weeks to play to that level. This piece took hours which shows that lessons and constant practice does your reading a world of good!

Thanks.

Nice job! Is the music available? I'd like to have a crack at this myself!

My teacher gave it to me as a single sheet. I will ask this coming week what book it comes from as I am keen to see if it contains any other similar pieces.

Now that is my kind of music \:\) . That was good, Ragtime C! You’re doing great!

I recorded my "by-ear" version of Blueberry Hill and uploaded it on to YouTube a while back. I’ve actually improved on it since then.

Take care,

Rick

I have it in "Songs of the 40's" it's a Hal Leonard book and part of "The Decade Series".

It is in Big Easy note lead sheet format. The price on the cover is $10.95 (US) I would think Amazon would be a source.

Some of the 60 selections include:
Bewitched, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, For Sentimental Reasons, How High the Moon, Moonlight in Vermont, Old Devil Moon, Red Roses for a Blue Lady, A string of Pearls, You'll Never Walk Alone and the ever popular Shoo Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy.

Hi Ragtime Clown,

I would have included the link to my YouTube video, Blue Berry Hill, but I figure folks here may be getting tired of my ‘back-woods hillbilly” piano videos. \:D

Besides this was your thread and I didn’t want to horn-in on your thread with my meager recordings. I liked your recording or Blue Berry Hill.

Anyway, here is the link:

Take care,

Rick

Rick, your version makes mine sound so basic.
However, as I continue to attend lessons, play, practice and introduce a little improvisation I can add some meat to the basic recording I made.

Malcolm, thanks for the pointer to the book. To be honest I don't know many of the other titles but thanks anyway.

You would have had to be in High School during the 40's to remember most of them. I graduated High School in 1951. Yea, I know - old as dirt.

Thanks for the complement, Ragtime Clown.

However, I’m right there with you in terms of learning and practicing. I enjoy attempting to play the piano very much. It is now my favorite pastime/hobby.

I play BlueBerry Hill in C major but Fats Domino originally played it in B flat (A#). I can play it in B flat, but not as well as I can in C major.

Take care and keep up the good work!

Rick
