The first is a piano duet with myself on Autumn Leaves (tune everyone should know, no excuse \:\) )

This following tune is some improvisation based on a pop tune I wrote a few years ago:

Enjoy, and comments please!

Wow did I like the second one. Sorry I didn't listen to the first, but the second reminded me of Keith Jarret's Koln concert. It (your piece) was magnificent. Thanks.

Very nice playing. What piano did you use?

Do you have Winamp? If not, look into getting it. It's free, and most everyone who uses it. It plays many formats.

A Roland FP-3 synthesizer. \:\(

That's why the dynamics and timing isn't as good as I hoped for. Synthesizers never get close to the action of a real piano.

Thanks for the compliments!

Try waiting. It takes a while to open/download if you're playing them in IE directly. The delay makes you start thinking it won't happen.

Autumn leaves.. ahh. Love it. Good job on the melody.

Let me ask you a question though.. why the "Self-duet"? I'd like to hear it just solo. One take. The duet sounds pretty.. but you can tell that it's a little "dis-jointed" at parts. And there's certain enharmonic chords that you are using in the the melody portion that don't fit smoothly into the bass line (lower two hands). But the "upper" left hand in the second - overdub - recording, (right over middle C position) sounds like it works Perfectly with the melody line. Therefore, a solo (one-take) would work great.

CelticMemory is perfect. You stated that it is an improvisation of a "pop song"? Is it a pop song that you wrote.. or are you re-playing an already existing piece?

I'd love to hear more.

Yeah, but it's just too fun playing a duet. \:\)

Of course, in duets any rhythmic errors become very audible. Also, particularly in jazz, sometimes there are voicings that collide. (for example, maybe one take you play a b13 and the other take you play a natural 13 -- in both takes by themselves these would work, but together...)

Yes, it's a simple tune I wrote a few years back, and then just recently played. Did you notice the 7/8 section?

Wow, Greg, that was neat! Thank you for sharing with us. How long did it take you to get that good? (I'm still struggling through voicing my first fakebook tune!)

Bill- I can't wait to get to the point of being able to hear the stuff you're talking about. How long have you been playing? Just curious.

You guys are an inspiration!
thanks, kat (a humble beginning jazz pianist)

Oh.. i'm not that much of a Jazz pianist anymore. I departed into composition years ago. I've forgotten more than I know right now. Been playing about 2 dozen years.

Been playing piano 10 years. I only got into jazz and started improvisation within the past 5 years though. Pretty fun stuff!
