Hi there,

Is there anyone who knows if there is any website on the Internet where you can find free piano notes? I have been searching for this kind of website for a long time now, but I haven't found something good. I know that there are some sites with some classical pieces out there, but I'm interested in something with modern music aswell.

Composers have inconvenient habits like eating which take money, so they like to get paid for their work, so there is not a lot of modern music available for free. If there is any, you might try the composers' websites.

Very nicely done and well played. Did you improvise these and then add the accompanying notes, or compose these beforehand with certain devices to demonstrate in mind?

All were played from a leadsheet (melody and chords) or memory. The playing was improvised.
Later, I used software (PG music's Powertracks and/or Band in a Box) to create the transcriptions from the midi files that were recorded as I played. The transcriptions are fairly accurate, though I have had to edit/correct them a fair bit before posting them.
I did not have any particular things in mind to demonstrate beforehand - the comments were added as I went over the song I had played, and tried to explain the things that I thought other piano players would want to know. The best 'lessons' I have ever had have been standing with a good player at the piano as he/she played a well known standard , watching his hands, and asking him to explain some of the things I had seen.

Great job Doug. It was fun to watch your improv and different voicings. When I have more time I will watch all of them.
