Anyone who is familiar with Chick's 'Children's Songs' know that they are more complex than average. I'm having trouble finding out what is happening in no.7. I've been given a sheet without any chord symbols, only the notes. To be able to find out what's going on I'm pretty sure that I need to know these chords.
I could scan the sheet (3 pages)if needed.

The specific chords are those found in the first section without the ostinate and the section just after (where the ostinate changes keys) and at last the section after the repeat of the chorus like section. (Hope you understand:-)

Any help is welcome - ideas, questions or answers

I've never played or analyzed this particular piece, but just glancing at it, I'd say the sustained chords (the ones before the key changes in the ostanato bass) are tension building devices. The keychanges in the ostanato bass are whole tone approach chords to get you back to the original key of G. Admittedly not a very scholarly analysis but it's a start.

Do you have to analyze this for a class or something? Exactly what are you trying to figure out?

Hi,
Why not send Chick an email and see if you get a response? I believe his website is www.chickcorea.com.
