Hi,

I would like to personally extend an invitation to all forum readers to attend my gig Friday July 1 2005 at Steamers Jazz Cafe in Fullerton CA. We are making a live album that night, and any aspiring pianist, sax player, bassist or drummer who is interested in straight ahead jazz and the live recording process will probably enjoy seeing how its done. We are recording in stereo and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. It is a Kawai grand that sounds fabulous at that club.

The show starts at 8:30pm and will be hosted by James Janisse from KKJZ which broadcasts on iTunes at iTunes>Radio>Jazz>KKJZ Long Beach State University.

This will be my first straight ahead jazz album in several years and the songlist includes "Giant Steps", "In A Sentimental Mood", Moanin'", "The Shadow of Your Smile", and my "Bb Etude" (that's rhythm changes in Bb Hgiles).
If you are a forum reader and do attend, please come up and say hello! It is going to be a lot of fun.

Rob,

I will attend so long as you promise not to 'call me out' to sit in!

No, really, this is great! But, gosh darn it, I am on the other coast! Aaargh!!

I personally think an experience like this would be awesome!

That sounds really cool. But, like hgiles, LA is kind of a schlep from here.

That's cool, Rob, and I think I can make it. And no, I won't be sitting in, either... I'll just enjoy the show, thank you very much!

What other Angelenos/Orange-Countians are game? Let's get a table together or somethin'.

Hey Rob.
Hope all goes well. Who's playing with you? Are you bringing in a piano?

Hi,
It was a big night, and we had a lot of fun. The music is being mastered and the audio previews will probably answer your questions when we have the music ready. We have a lot to choose from which is cool. I will say that Bb Etude seems to be one of the best things we did. It was a more of a medium swing. The biggest disappointment is we didn't have room for everyone-nearly 100 people were turned away and not able to get in, and a lot of them were friends. More later, and thanks for asking.
