As performed by Bill Evans. I have the changes to the original song in an ancient, back-in-the-day real book, but they seem really wrong.
I'm mainly interested in how Bill reharmonized the tune. A complete transcription would be nice, but I don't know of any.
Gregjazz? Anyone?

It's on "Explorations". I never really checked that song out either, till I saw it on U tube. It's a pretty typical Evans treatment... simply awesome.
I happened to have an original LP of it, and it hasn't been off the turntable for a couple of weeks now.

I dont have a transcription of Beautiful Love. I have "But Beautiful".
Sorry for the confusion.
But I do agree with you--it is worth learning!

Beautiful Love...I do believe I have this sheet music...I remember that title and is it very slow and haunting? I will search if so...Old song...Sandy b.

I think that originally the tune was played slow, but Evans does it with a kind of swing feel that makes it seem faster than a ballad.

I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my post and have provided me with invaluable help. GregJazz wrote out the changes for me and gave me some pointers for working with the harmony and dpvjazz sent me a transcription of the solo that will really be helpful.
I think I have the changes and basic voice leading down, so now I need to turn it into music.
This is gonna take awhile...

I have done a midi version of this both solo and also trio - find the 'Beautiful Love' file at http://home.wanadoo.nl/dougmckenzie/ I did this some time ago - after hearing the Bill Evans version. The lead sheet is in the Sher Music New Real Book Vol 1 p16, and is based on Bill Evans' changes. The use of pedal tones (on the dominant) through the minor and major ii V I in the first 8 bars (not shown on this leadsheet), helps it to sound 'Evans-ish'. Also using 'fourthy' voicings, and altered dominants also helps. Doug
