Are there any software packages out there that can write piano sheet music from mp3 files/CD music??

Gilbert, Most notation programs will import midi files. As far as mp3 / wav to notes, try Transcribe. This program mostly helps you determine the notes, instead of having an automated process. See http://www.seventhstring.com/index.html Rich

You can also try AmazingMIDI to make MIDI files from WAV files. It's pretty good for those kinds of programs (especially free ones). http://www.pluto.dti.ne.jp/~araki/amazingmidi/
