Check out the crazy pianist in this one. This video is wild!!!! Has everything but the kitchen sink! Louis, Dizzy & friends all in. This one tickled my ears. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO1uMjz3n3w Yep; I am still trying to deal with my youtube addiction and losing the fight. Wolf

Fabulous! Thank you.
I had the privilege of seeing Dizzy live at a local high school auditorium in about 1977 or 78. What a show he put on that night! He inspired me to take up trumpet which I played for a couple of years in college.

TX-Dennis I so envy you! In a small venue no less.
He certainly was a great ambassador for the world of jazz music. He really cared enough about the music to take the time to introduce kids to jazz.
And he was quite a character as I understand. I don't blame for not fixing up the bent horn... for he liked the way it sound and projected I believe. But that horn sticking straight up in the air has became his trade mark.
Along with those puffed up (blown out) cheeks.
And seeing him swing along with Louis is something beyond fabulous. I just had to send that link.
Now I am wondering If anyone has ever attempted swinging this Umbrella Man tune on the piano. Or even did it 2 pianos/ 2 hands. That could be really cool and quite a challenge.

Yes, Dizzy was quite a character. That evening I remember they were having trouble with the sound system. Microphones kept quitting. The tech would work on cables and such for awhile and get it going again. You could tell Dizzy was getting frustrated, but he kept going. Eventually another mic quit working. Diz took it off the stand, walked into the audience, handed it to a fan, and said. "Here, have a microphone. Too bad it don't work." He brought the house down with that line.
