There's no formal guidelines that I'm aware of, Sandy. Just rate a person as you see fit. One important thing to keep in mind is that, as far as I know, it is impossible to change your rating afterwards.

A lot of people turn off the star rating feature entirely (that's why you can't rate everybody), and a lot of people don't rate other people. It's a topic of occasional controversy; if you search the forums for "stars" as the subject of the thread, you will probably find a couple of threads where people offer strongly held opinions about the star system.

Thank you very much, Sandy, for your kind words. I personally would find the star ratings to be more useful if we were able to change our ratings. As it is I try now to wait until a member has been around for several months before rating him/her.

You have earned my words. I admire many others but you the most. I learn so much from you. One young man was so full of himself and not being realistic, etc. and I so admired your response to him...So kind and gentle . You really gained my respect.
