Seeking Haunting Piano Music Suggestions....

Greetings All! I'm wondering if anyone might be able to recommend some pianists who play in a haunting/emotive/minimalist style. I'm particularly fond of the pieces found on Craig Armstrongs "Piano Works" CD ( see: http://www.craigarmstrong.com/piano.html). I'd say this is my favorite piano music, of all I've come across. I'm also fond of the work of Dustin O'Halloran, who plays with a somewhat Parisian feel, a la Satie, yet still fits under the "haunting" category in my book. (see: http://www.dustinohalloran.com/) Any suggestions anyone? Thanks so much! Nervx

I tried looking for those websites-they don't work. i was somehow directed to craigarmstrongonline.com - that's a website to go to, but you can't hear his music there. on amazon.com you can hear some of armstrong's music, but there are no sound clips for the solo piano cd he has. sheesh.... Not sure why those links aren't working. Try going to www.craigarmstrong.com, and click on the "launch the piano works micro site" text, then when you're at the piano works site, click on the 4th dot from the left, at the bottom of the screen, and you can listen to tracks off this album. As for Dustin O'Halloran, you can hear one of his albums at www.emusic.com. Just type in his name. He just released a new album too, and has two pieces in the new film, "Marie Antoinette". Nice stuff! Pam

P.S. If all else fails, try typing the web address in your browser and hitting "go". That should work!

I'm trying to look for something, but I really can't find anything at the moment. Right now I'm trying to find some music too, but am unfortunately having no luck. There are a lot of sheet music archives at www.pianoworld.com.

nervx, Max Richter might be worth looking into, although alot of his music has orchestra and sometimes electonic elements as well. You can hear some samples on amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Memoryhouse-Richter/dp/B000067UCZ There are only two piano-only tracks, 'The Twins' and 'Andras'. However, if you want some haunting music, tracks 1,5,and 16 are good. " the result is a melancholy evocation of love, loss and survival, often with the focus on Eastern Europe. Minimalism with a deeply emotional core, overlaid with fragments of poetic voices, the melodic sensibility lies between Philip Glass's minimalism, and the film scores of Zbigniew Preisner"

Does "hauntingly beautiful" count? If so, scroll down to number 18 at botom of page and play Vivaldi's concerto for lute (largo) for a sample. http://www.amazon.com/Mad-about-Vivaldi-Iona-Brown/dp/B000001GKW

How about "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes?"
I have an original edition of the sheet music for this piece, going back to the 1930s. Hey, it's haunting enough to please me.
