I am learning this song right now and I play it with the fingerings that seemed right at the time but I feel they could be better and more quicker.

Here is the picture of the music..<a href="http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/oceanadead/piano-1.jpg">here</a>

Now my fingerings for the right hand are.

I noted the numbers between () as the parts where I feel should be diffrent..I just need some advice.
2-1-2-3-5-3-2-1-(4-3)-2-1-(3-2-1)-4-1-4-1-4-1

A friend told me that I should slide my fourth finger at the Bb down to the A natural...what do you guys think?

Thanks

Well, for what it's worth, your questioned fingerings look good to me. I'd only "slide" fingers when it's really unwieldy to do it any other way. I did, however, come up with a different fingering for the last two triplets:

Yours: 2-1-2-3-5-3-2-1-(4-3)-2-1-(3-2-1)-4-1-4-1-4-1
Mine:
2-1-2-3-5-3-2-1- 4-3 -2-1- 3-2-1 4-2-1-3-2-1

As far as speed: A wise old teacher I had, showed me how to "block" portions of runs to build up speed. Play the run in clusters until you can do that fairly rapidly. Then open them up, starting with the last one first.
In other words, using my fingering just as an example (if yours is more comfortable, then stick to it)
Play the run in the following clusters:
2 1235321 4321 321 421 321

Once you're fluent playing it that way, then open up the last 3-2-1, then the 4-2-1-3-2-1, etc.

I'm not familiar with the music, but, without
further context, it would appear that this
is at a fast tempo. Moreover, the bass
would be played with a "hitch," like in
boogie woogie, not in pure eight notes
as notated. And, the r.h. would need to
be played in free time, not strictly as
notated, in order for it to sound right.

Thus, given the above, the r.h. fingering
would have to be high-speed fingering,
and moreover, fingering that will allow
for the rubato that is needed. I played
these measures with the above in mind,
and I came up with this fingering:

212 353 213 213, 212 121 121 2

For me at least, this allows a fast tempo,
together with the extreme rubato that is
necessary.

Thank you to both of you guys for your quick response. Yes it is in the lines of boogie woogie. I could play it little hiccups here and there but more of the speed is what is getting me, I will try both of your guys advice and see how it works out.

THANKS!!! =)

Never slide mad .....just play the keys laugh . Slide only when there is no other way.

In this case: play......

Best regards,

Sliding is actually a valid technique in the blues/boogie/jazz genre.

My!my!. Thats some fingering. I play, as some know, by ear. And if there is one single big advantage by learning to play the piano correctly, as most of you do. This is it. Some of the traditional piano jazz is played by ear as the poorer people in those days could not afford to pay for lessons. Others like Erroll Garner played by ear but he was a genius, rare in this world.

I often think the fingering is the biggest drawback in not being taught formally. Some can do it without training, but these explanations here seem very sensible.
