I am in a band and the band manager wants me to come up with a piano solo for Mustang Sally in C. Any suggestions/ideas are greatly appreciated!

Whenever I'm faced with a task like that, I always collect some recordings and do some focused listening. Ideas usually spring forth after that.

(I'm very fond of the iTunes Store...one can easily search and sample recordings).

Maybe you'll get lucky and find a recording with a piano solo on it worthy of transcription.

I agree with the listening advice. Try searching on youtube, there are loads of versions there to listen to, and you can get soloing ideas from other instruments. Anything in the groove on a blues scale will work - I plan to do some recording tomorrow so if I have time I will try to put a few suggestions on to a video for youtube.. not that I am setting myself up as an expert on this, but I have had to solo over it a few (thousand) times.
