Does anyone here play Kitten on the Keys by any chance? I'm struggling along trying to learn it, and any advice would be much appreciated \:\)

Novelty piano, of which Zez Confrey was a practitioner, is meant to be a difficult genre, and Kitten on the Keys is one of his more difficult pieces. You should have a background in ragtime and early jazz when you tackle it. Learn the rhythmic and harmonic structure, and practice, practice, practice.

I do play a lot of ragtime, boogie, stride, etc., but this novelty stuff is a "different animal", as you say - a reach challenge. Well, I guess to start I shouldn't expect to sound like Claude Bolling, right? ;\) Thanks for your reply. \:\)

ditto BDB..

In all honesty I'd suggest staying away from that stuff. May I suggest Fats Waller?
