Hi guys,

Another piece i wrote.
Wrote it in a very short period. I got the idea 2 days ago and wrote a page of it and after a decent bit of editing, here is it!

Please give your comments.

Does it sound like any piano piece you've heard before?

I had a short glimpse of Clowns - Kabalevsky; that was a bit of my inspiration - the name of the piece.

Yes it does sound like something by Schostakovitch, but somethign I played in a band, not on a piano. Don't know the Kabalevsky.

It sounds fun, although I found the ending a bit disappointing as I thought it was building up to s big finish but it kind of took a weird turning and then just stopped. You might want to vary the accompaniment a bit in the first half. But there are some nice ideas in this.

It certainly does remind me of Clowns, Kabalevsky. This is one of my favorites that has been in my repertoire since I was about twelve years old. I'm still playing it.

I don't compose but this sounds really good! Wow! I was expecting some kind of surprise ending and was disappointed by the simple ending. Great work!

That was fun!

Of course the performance was very quantized and lacked much in the way of dynamics. I'd be very interested to hear a performance by a human. I don't mind the abrupt ending, in fact the section just before the ending sounds like it's leading to the ending, but just doesn't get worked up enough to justify it. You might try bringing back one of the two really hyper sections. These were (for me) around the 45 second mark and around the 1 minute mark. Another old standby for a good ending to a piece like this is the big glissando with big chords at the top and bottom of the keyboard. After a piece like this you need a real flourish to finish it.

Thanks for sharing I really liked the piece.

Hey Steve, John and pianoplayer

Thanks people, it's really encouraging! The ending is a bit abrupt and sounds off, but its partly because of the messy chords and the midi i believe.

And Steve, yes, i was thinking exactly how to finish the piece off with a bang! Slowly, i'll get to it.

Keith
