Tony,
Glad you enjoyed the music, as for your question, i am not sure i can state any direct
inspiration for themes by a composer, at least not a conscious inspiration, because
naturally all music i listen to influences my compositions, along of course with everything
i see, touch, taste and smell.
I can tell you tough that the first piece was basically an imense variation on the first
theme you ear, and that theme came to me in that limbo state were you are neither awake or a sleep,
( there were also images of me on some kind of boat, i think ) i wrote it down and for some reason
i liked it so much that i felt like doing a complex piece around it.
As for the second piece it was inspired by a drawing offered to me by a friend.
Altough, i might say that i had Mr.L.v.Beethoven in the corner of my mind when
developing the adagio and tryed to get inspired by his miraculous talent for doing
variation on themes, ( i bealive however i´ve failed miserably ) but that is because
unlike my other work the adagio had a very strong study component to it.
The piece was writen on and off during a period of a couple of months and had a lot
of revision and after thought put in to it, unlike for instance the second piece
wich was writen in a few hours and in a higly improvised way, sort of speak.
Also the adagio was an atempt to create some more "listenable" music than what i usualy do.
( again i bealive i failed there to, especially in that fuguetta thing

)
As for the intruments, no, it is not a real orchestra, ( its Finale 2007 with Garritan
Personal Orchestra ) because bealive me, it would have sounded very diferent ( for the better i mean )
if i could conduct a real orchestra for this piece, especially the tempo and dynamics, cause
those can be a real pain to control in Finale.
I do hope i dont die without conducting at least some of my work, and i do have faith
that something like that will happen, but for the time being, Finale will have to do.
I checked out your myspace, your march had some very good moments, but i specially
liked "PianoForte", it had character from start to finish and also transpired
a somewhat confident yet unpretensious simplicity wich i think is hard to achieve!
Again thank you for the comments and good luck with your future composition efforts
and everything else!
Pedro
