xxmynameisjohnxx 500 Post Club Member Registered: 10/27/08 Posts: 625 Loc: San Diego	So, when I'm at the piano, I can sit there and improv a rather good melody no problem...but when I'm sitting with blank sheet music or in sibleius, my melodies are just....soso. Any advice on how to write melody away from the piano? _________________________ Chopin: Nocturne No. 15 in Fm. Op. 55 no.1.

A couple of references: "Fundamentals of Musical Composition" by Arnold Schoenberg and Goetschius's "Exercises in Melody Writing." And I'll look into those exercises. Thanks!
