Being supremely musical with unsurpassed taste in all the visual arts I naturally love being a member of the elite and the avant__ garde.

My principal residence is a very tall building clad in the rarest and latest of real African Elephant Ivory.

Members of the elite have distinct duties towards their less well off fellow humans one of which is to instruct and correct the disadvantaged on the finer points of music and the arts.

Unfortunately,due to invincible ignorance some of these people will not be able to achieve the meritorious level,s required for entry into the higher echelons of artistic culture.

I do what I can to alleviate their appalling suffering by revealing pearls of great artistic wisdom for free.

To whom much has been given much is required.

Twenty years ago, when I began experimenting with synthesizers, I thought a bit along these lines. One can make one's own sounds and is not reliant on a mechanical instrument or instruments. 33/32 against 17/12? No problem etc.

It hasn't happened. I reckon this is because the freedom of interpretation by another human more than compensates. By far.

Or possibly, the need to write for a real instrument and an interpreter assists a composer in 'connecting' with an audience.

I confess these are not the reasons I quit rather rapidly. I simply could not produce sounds that pleased me as much as the sound of a single violin, or a comparable dynamical range. Possibly, this is the main reason.

I can confidently assert that the 'famous university teacher' is wrong.
