Okay I was wondering, how do I add extra instrument parts in Sibelius? I know that I can choose different sets of instruments when you first begin a composition, but what about if I'm in the middle of a piece and decide I may want a flute or violin part as well? How do I do that?

Also, pertaining to my upcoming music theory final composition, how do I create two voices in one staff? Like, if I had octave c's, how could I have one of them move in a dotted eight, the other a normal eights, or how would I put rests in that only apply to one voice, not the other.

For the second question, on the "Keypad" window under the notes, rests and articulations are buttons labelled "1", "2", "3" and "4" representing voices. You can switch between them, and type different voices independently.

For the first question, I don't have Sibelius at hand to check it and I don't really remember where it was

go to Layout and choose "Instruments and Staves" - you'll be able to add more instruments to the score.

(This is for version 4, I haven't sprung for 5 yet...)

Okay thanks for the help. I figured neither of these things were hard to do....I just didn't know.

Something else to consider:

You can always start a new score with the configuration you want and paste the notes in from the old score.

I do this sometimes if I screw up the layout or want to use different settings or fonts. Pasting doesn't affect layout.

In Sibelius 5 you go to the "create" menu at the top of the screen and you can pretty much create anything you want...
