How early in life did you discover an interest/ability in composition?

I fell into it rather naturally, of course in a childish way around the age of 7, a few months after I started piano lessons. Whats your story?

I composed my first piece when I was about 13 - a sonatina in the style of Mozart. It's almost painful to look back on it as it was really not good, but you have to start somewhere. Actually, the second movement had some decent ideas in it, but that was about it...

Impressive! A Sonatina! I loved Clementi's sonatinas, especially number 1. Raced through it like I was going to a fire! Ha Ha. Drove my teacher crazy.

Started improvising around 15-16, but didn't start composing until I came back to the piano around 22 (so, last year).
