Very nice, John! It sounds like some interesting, or maybe just un-traditional, harmonies in there.
(I just use the word 'harmony' because I don't know any better. :p But it sounds very interesting to me.)

Sorry guys, I'm kind of hit and miss and don't listen to too many recordings because of the time it takes and then they end up on my system, I have to go through and delete too much. So I usually end up every now and then randomly selecting one depending on my mood or something. Well, I listened to this one. I noticed the title, "Remembering Her" - who is being remembered - someone specific or just a generality? - just curious. Also, what kind of collaborative composition is it? Again, just curious. OK, here's my subjective "critique". I haven't written anything for a long time and what I have written isn't much. I base a lot of what I say on various critiques on what I've heard my past teachers tell me and other students over and over. Also, although I think I can write decent melodies, I'm lacking in how to harmonize them nicely and most of what I do listen to amazes me in the harmony dept. (all except a lot of times for not enough variation in harmony and rhythm ) I need a lot more practice in the harmonizing part myself. It's overall very beautiful. The beginning section seemed to go on a little too long without enough variation. I was ready to hear something a little different happen sooner. The transition when I did hear something different happening toward the middle, I thought too abrupt, although I liked the variation especially rhythmically, but would have liked to hear a smoother transition to that part. Then toward the ending where the crescendo and came in and thereafter was WONDERFUL!!!!! It was very breathtaking!!! I loved the build up of intensity at the crescendo followed by the soft, quiet gentle pretty ending. How I would love the rest of the piece prior to be as breathtaking! And how I would love the rest of the piece to capture and hold my attention in that way! Perhaps with more variation harmonically and or rhythmically and especially more expression perhaps in the way of more places along the way of building followed by calm.

This isn’t a collaboration Sara. I use Collaboration Central's ftp space to host my files.

I'd like to introduce you to my new composition, much more simple than yours but I'd like your opinion, I think our music is pretty similar in style. It would be nice to hear your opinion. I do not know how to upload ir, but I can send it to you via msn (mp3 - played on my clp240). scorpio_uk@hotmail.com

A very mature piece, altough i must a confess a bit too linear for my taste (tough you should n´t take my taste too serious :)overall i think it´s a round well contructed and felt theme that really evokes images. Very nice

I thought it was really good. Are you a bit of a Chopin fan? I thought there were some Chopiney sounds in there, but modern too. And can you post sheet music for it? I'd like to play it. btw have a look at my ragtime piece www.savefile.com/files/9960009 , see what you think.

Thanks guys.
Of course I love Chopin, but I also love most of the other "Greats" as well.
All I have for this piece is my sloppy manuscript that only I can read. Someday I'll print these pieces.
Best, John

These two pieces are part of a two CD collection of mine. Some of the pieces have been published and have had several placements on Dateline NBC. Both "Till Death Do Us Part" and "Remembering Her" weren't included in my publishing contract - so they're still available. Thanks again, John
