Monica,

"fullest extent" is pretty broad territory, difficult for anyone to give a meaningful reply without a huge info dump.

There are a LOT of indy artists out there trying to get themselves known and how to do it depends partly on the genre.

If you want to sell CDs take a look at lulu.com or cdbaby.com.

google is your friend, try "independent music".

ciao

I haven't successfully done what you're saying
in the musical field, but in the metaphysical
field, it has worked for me to be very generous
with my gifts. To offer them freely to many
venues. For instance, I produced my own cable TV
show on Public Access...24 weeks. You could
do something like that...(its basically free),
and put together a program that showcases your
music.
You could perform or have others perform it
in nursing homes, schools, parties, etc...just
to get your name/style known.
Depending on the type of music is it, you
could perhaps write original music for a locally
produced play. This would give you some "credits" that can go on your musical resume.
To build professionalism, its often good to
"act like a professional". If you're good enough,
the money eventually comes together.
As President Wilson said: "I am here to
enrich the world." Better to enrich the world
than to withhold and enrich no one.
You could do the obvious of making sample CD's and giving them to everyone you know.
You could go to the internet radio stations..
many are listed on www.pirateradio.com ( and of
course many other sites) and
send them free stuff....build an audience that
way.
No one said the music business is easy, but
it sure is a great place to air out your heart!
Good luck. None of these thoughts may work for
you...but maybe there is something here that would
be helpful.
Good luck!
The good news is that the impetus to "put it
out there" comes from your soul and is genuine.
Its "marching orders" from Spirit and good
for you for listening and obeying that higher
calling. Sharing your music is sharing your love!
