Would someone be able to give me information on Grinnell Bros Consolette Piano - serial number 75547?
If you know any information on this brand, the year, etc. that would be great.
Thanks.

Grinnell Bros. 1515 Woodward Ave. Detroit Mich. Your serial number seems to be off. The Atlas lists no 75000 at all.Discontinued 1960 at 58890 If yours is a modern piano and your number is right,it then makes it a stencil. Made by Winter for the Grinnell retail stores, and there were many.

Grinnell was a large chain of music stores in the Detroit area for many years. As I recall they went out of business in the early-mid 80's. In recent years the Grinnell Bros. name has been owned by Hammell Music, the Detroit area's Steinway dealer that is going out of business. Scroll down this page to read their Grinnell write-up, which includes a history of the original company, including "the largest piano factory on earth": http://www.hammell.com/Pianos.html
