Hello everyone, A while back, I created a video that explains how to take an initial 2-bar melody and turn it into a full 8-bar phrase. I wanted to share it here. Find the video on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejJtUdqW8ko Thanks, Edward

Hi Libby, My pleasure! Actually, in my next lesson, I'll be showing my students how I take a small melodic idea and turn it into a full ABA composition. --------------------- Play New Age Piano http://www.quiescencemusic.com

Hi Libby, It's all about how you use the element of time. I personally like it when music "breathes" and is played rubato. Chopin did this a lot. And so do I. --------------------- Play New Age Piano http://www.quiescencemusic.com

The best advice I can give for creating interesting melodies is not being constrained by the confinements of a scale, you'll be surprised at the interesting sound you can create by using notes not in the scale as a leading tone.
