ok, since I don't have access to my music theory textbook until sunday...I was wondering a bit about borrowed chords. I remember how to construct them (borrowing the major III from a minor key in a major key makes it a bIII, etc...) but I'm not quite sure how to make it fit right in a progression, or if there are any inversions that make it sound more...normal.

The best advice I could give you would be to study the literature and see how the great composers do it. In a major key, common borrowed chords are iiø7, viiº7, and iv. In a minor key, you can find IV and I. But, basically any chord is available to be used - just have a musical purpose for doing so.
