Hi, Could someone give me information about this baldwin serial # 436689- 45" height- model 243hpw- I am thinking of purchasing it from a private seller- Is it American Made? What does the HPW stand for? I'd love to jump on this as it seems like a good deal- but I want to verify the age etc and have my tuner check it out. Thanks so much!!!!

The number doesn't quite match up with my atlas..

That SN only matches with the 48" baldwins the 248A pro. It doesn't say anything about the 234hpw, sorry the Baldwins SN's can be confusing to look up.

Since the SN only matches that of piano built in the early 90's it would be a pretty safe bet this one was made in that time period as well.

I do not know where it was made.

Good luck!

In the Piano Atlas, one looks under Hamilton to check Baldwin 243 serial numbers. Your number indicates that the piano was built in 1991 and it was made in America. It is probably a satin walnut finish. Be sure to have your tech check it out. The 243 is generally a really nice instrument if it has been cared for.

thanks so much- I have heard good things here about this model. I am getting a great bargain from someone that has a lot of sentimental attachment to it and just wants it to have a nice home. I am very excited to upgrade from my Baldwin Console (which is not so great).
