Hello,

Please comment my son's performance of ABEGG. Eli is 12. The recording is from Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival.

NOTE: Left pedal was malfunctioning, and therefore you will hear two "weird" sounds at the Theme.

Eli Karpinsky - ABEGG - 2009-02-17

Thank you!

Not a lot to say, and any critiques of real importance would come from professionals. The number of young people his age who can bring that kind of control to that sort of music is quite small.

I noticed on your web site that he has quite a good feel for Mozart. Young kids often don't 'get' Mozart and it comes off sounding quite mechanical. Not him. His phrasing seemed rock solid.

Have you noticed any changes in how he handles nerves? Lot's of kids start to feel the effects of the stage more strongly as they get into their teens. I know we have faced that and he has adjusted to it with some rearrangement of how he prepares (many more small performance before the bigger ones).

2Iberville:

We have a Yamaha A1 and a Yamaha upright at home - used those two for the Concerto and for the Etude. At the Kiwanis, there was an instrument whose name I already forgot (not the best one, unfortunately).

Youtube - yes, of course. Will do.

Thank you very much for your comments
