Hi! My name is Alvaro, I'm from Spain, and I'm a Piano Student. I'm 21 years old, and I'm studying to become a professional Pianist. This is not my first time in this forum, but my other account was a little bit messed up, so I decided to make a new one. Maybe someone remembers me? eek Hmm... I don't know, it's been a long time...

I'm living in London, where I'm studying Piano in a Music Academy, and I'm very pleased about that I must say. The Academy if superb, and so are the teachers, plus I get access to practising 7 hours per day from Monday to Sunday. Actually, I'm allowed to stay all night long if I wish! So that's brilliant considering I can practice in a beautiful Schimmel with a very warm sound. And the best thing of all, I don't disturb the neighbours!

I myself own a Schimmel, I had to sell my Steinway B... I know... it hurts... but our economy is not being very good recently, so... we had no choice. But then again, after recession there's always an economic boom, so... who knows? Maybe I'll own the Piano of my dreams in a few years! grin

As per favourite composers... Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninov are the ones I love most (and I'm starting to discover Brahms).

I hope to have a great time with all of you, since I remember this forum perfectly, and the members I talked to were very nice.

Let the music begin, ladies and gentlemen. Let our dream begin!

Alvaro.

HI Alvaro! Welcome back!

Yes, I remember you and remember in particular when you bought your Steinway. I'm sorry to hear that you had to sell it but it sounds like you're still working hard toward your dream of becoming a professional pianist.

Please visit more often as your time allows.

Alvaro! Welcome back, maestro!

So great to hear that you are following your passion and developing into a professional pianist! 7 hours a day practice - wow! You seem to be enjoying London, which is great too.

Your favourite composers are the same as mine - do you still play any Mendelssohn these days? I remember your video of a 'Songs Without Words' piece you posted once.

Take care, and post often.
Euan.

Hi Greg and Euan! Nice to hear from you again!

Greg: I had a great time with my Steinway, but I'm very pleased with my Schimmel too, and very pleased with the pianos in the academy. So it's better than before, even if my Steinway is no longer with me. Things will get better and I'll be able to afford another Grand Piano in some years time, hopefully.

Euan: London is great, although I miss my family and friends! But I believe London is a great place for music, and that was what draw my attention immediately. The last works I was playing back in Spain with my old teacher were... a Toccata and Fugue (Bach), a Beethoven Sonata (don't remember the number right now), one of Chopin's Polonaises, Chopin's Scherzo No.2 (2/3 finished) and Chopin's first Ballade (1/3 done).

Right now, I have to start a new programme with my new teacher, who I will be meeting next Tuesday. So... I'll let you know my new pieces as soon as possible!

Cheers!
BTW: I'll be posting very often! I've always loved this place.

Alvaro.

Hi Alvaro,
I remember you, but you probably don't remember me!! (I didn't "directly" correspond with you very much.)

Sounds like the Academy is awesome. My very good wishes to you as you progress on your journey.

Hi Alvaro. Are'nt you the guy who was lovesick all the time with a brand new Steinway being craned into your room?. [You just don't forget those images!].

Anyway, welcome back. Are you progressing at the rate you thought you would at the music academy?.

Hi Monica and Mr_Super-Hunky! Nice to hear from you!

I know, I was crazy about my Steinway. But life ain't always easy, at least, economically speaking. So, what's done it's done.
Nonetheless, if everything goes OK in the future, and I know things will go OK! hehe, we will be able to afford a Grand Piano. I'm dreaming of you... Bosies, Faziolis and Steinways ^^ (and who doesn't?)

Hello Lewbo.
London is indeed a very nice place to study.
Although I don't know if I'd be able to stay here for more than 4-5 years. It's sometimes very stressful, big cities are.
But then again, I'll win the lottery and I'll probably get lost with my piano either in New Zealand or in the Seychelles... hey, daydreaming is nice!

Is that because of the make-up comments from Alvaro,

or the fact she has a speedo-wearing, ex-bodybuilder/diver hitting on her? wink

Hi Alvaro. My name's Joshua, I'm also 21 and I started playing piano about a month ago and wish to get into a music school in a 6-7 years. Monika told me that you also started playing piano relatively late as well, and got accepted to a conservatory a few years later. I just thought it would be cool to talk to someone who used to be in a similar situation as me. If you could give me any advice or information that would be great!(especially on the admissions process) thank you, hope we can meet each other as professional pianists one day.

Welcome back Alaro. Always loved your recordings of your music. The first one I heard was a Mendelsohn. You played it beautifully.
Hope you will send us some more recordings of your playing.

Best wishes. Gaby tu
