Frank, everything seems to run so much better!

However, I find that my eyes are constantly drifting over the to right side where all the pictures are. Is there anything you could do about this?

Sure, charge our advertisers more money :-)

We always had ads on the right side, they are just a little closer to the top now. Nothing is written in stone, we'll see what happens over the next week or so.

Seriously though, we couldn't keep going without advertisers, so I need to strike a balance. I think you will find they aren't so distracting once you get used to them.

Would it be possible to make the adverts on the right static rather than animated - i.e. pick a random set for each new page loaded...?

Good suggestion, Lavalse,

It is pretty animated and distracting on the right side, and I find the 3 columns to feel glaring at this point. Perhaps a colored background in a very soft gray would reduce the glare and allow good reading perception in the advertisement area.

It is hard to determine what you want to focus on, and I'm a concerned about my comfort level while using the forum.

This new format is very promising!

Betty

There are now 4 new styles to choose from, in addition to the 2 basic styles that are the board defaults.

They are all listed inside the Style Chooser at the bottom of the page (to the right of where it says Mark all Read).

The animated ads only run 3 times and stop.
Things may change in the future, still getting a handle on all this.

I haven't seen anything yet that I don't like. Keep up the good work Frank.

Perhaps it is my 78 year old eyes......but the new format is very difficult for me to read. The washed out blue print is especially bad. Are there any computer settings I could use to make it better. Could the moderator make the print more BOLD BOLD BOLD???

Bob,

Have you tried some of the other formats? Look at the very bottom of the page and you'll see a tab that lets you select different "looks" for the forum. I also find some of them too low contrast to read comfortably but the "black and gold hi res" seems to work pretty well for me.

You can also change the font size in your browser (view->zoom->zoom in in firefox, something similar in Internet Explorer) but note that this will change the font sizes for all web pages you visit.

Hope this helps.

A big "thank you". I didn't know I could change formats like that. Several are better than the default.

Bob, I'm 60, same problem. My eyes are probably already giving me as much trouble.

The only setting I've used so far that gives me a font and font size that is comfortable is the hi res setting. But the colors are just wrong for my eyes. frown

I have an additional question. In the past I could reset a thread to check it to "Add this thread to my Watched Topics" when I forgot. I could do this through edit. I have a headache, so maybe I missed something, but I was unable to do it. I'm doing it now with this question.

A feature I have always missed on this site is a setting that allows me to be notified by answers to any thread I have contributed to, by default.

The "koniro" style doesn't seem to have icons associated with it (Icons for "New posts since last visit", "More than 20 replies", etc).

I vastly prefer it to all other color styles, so if you can sort that out, I'd be very thankful!

My 59 year old eyes are using the black_and_gold_(hi_res) and doing just fine.

I believe it's been sorted, try it again.
