Hey Louis, You have been giving some very good advice on recent posts these last weeks. I'm proud of you.You said you may get a chance to go play a Steingraeber a couple weekends ago. Did you get the chance?

Avantgardenabi.......I think your question has been answered......Steingraeber is too expensive!
Have you had a chance to try out other brands such as Shigeru Kawai, Estonia or Petrof? You may like what you hear/feel and for considerably less money.
I'm assuming if you started your search with Bosendorfer, Steinway and Steingraeber, the brands I mentioned should certainly be within your price range.

Brent, this thread is very old, and the OP has left the building due to certain issues. Doh, I've been duped Posted yesterday: I love my Steingraeber. It is a dream come true. The sound that i can get from this piano, never ceases to amaze me! I am so blessed to be able to play on such a wonderful piano. The pop tunes in high resoulution are wonderful.
Terry Did it take you 8 months to realize this or were you just feeling particulary fond of your Steingraeber yesterday ??? DISCLAIMER: THE ABOVE STATEMENT WAS A JOKE

Hello Avantgardenabi,
I hope this will be helpful. First of all set a budget for your purchase. You are all over the place (un-restored Steinways, Pleyel and Steingraber)they don't belong in the same category. Steingraber are superb pianos, true masterpieces. If you can afford it, by all means buy it.
However here is an opinion/observation and without any intent to be offensive, but based on what I read on your previous posts; you are a perfect candidate to be romanced into some old clunker. Be careful! A word of the wise; NOBODY gives away a good Steinway, Pleyel and obviously a Steingraber. These brands can be found "probably" at a reasonable price, but whatever that price is, it won’t be pocket change. Therefore if you can't afford it, don't waste energy entertaining the idea of shopping for one. Look-out you may end-up throwing good money after bad.
In today's market (consumer grade pianos) have reached a quality/performance level where they are pretty satisfactory even for demanding pianist. I think you'll be happier in the long run if you reconsider what you want to buy.
Remember you are not buying a painting, sculpture or something of this kind. You are buying a machine/musical instrument called piano.
Best regards.

Um...Avantgardenabi I believe doesn't need any advice at this point about throwing good money after bad, Kurtman. His post was from a year and a half ago. Also, from what I remember he is getting a Knabe rebuilt, and posted many pictures and stories that went along with it that some on here found to be offensive or unprofessional.
I also remember that he was a Korean/American college/university student that was eager to share his stories and information only to feel he had to apologize for this and ban himself for crossing some line.
I, for one would be interested in what Avantgardenbi's piano is playing like these days. Are you still around?
