Hi, I mentioned this in the Piano Corner, but I feel that I need to add another part to it in the Composer's Lounge. So, I was recently very interested in the conservatories in NYC. My 13 year old son, who' an average pianist, is however, a pretty good composer. He's already studying theory and composition. SO we have decided on sending him to either the Mannes or Manhattan School of Music pre-college composition programs, not for piano. In the piano corner, I was just curious about which had a better piano program. So which has the better composition program. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Also, what do they focus on in your audition? When submitting pieces for the audition, what type of piece should it be? Classical, romantic, 10th Century? Which style? And also, for orchestra, piano, chamber ensemble? Any help? Thanks.
