Does anyone understand why the holes for the damper wires (grand) get tight?
They can't be that way from the factory? I had to drill them out to let the wires move freely, ... the wood shrank????

Try gently pulling on the retaining screw. If it backs out slightly the wire may free up. Sometimes the barrel insert can bind on the damper wire.

this was definitly a wood thing as I totally removed the barrel and it was still a problem on 90% of the levers
