Please Help!!

I just bought the new Zoom H4n recorder, successor to the popular H4, which many folks on this forum use.

I have no idea whatsoever how to download recorded files from the Zoom to a Mac iBook, ultimately to Garageband. The manual does not mention it.

I read the tutorial on this forum about the H4, but that info does not coincide with the Hn4.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance for help!

In all likelihood the process is something like this: get yourself a Mac compatible memory card reader. Take the memory card out of the Zoom, put it into the reader, connect the reader to the computer, and treat it as a disk drive.

Caveat: I haven't used a Mac in many years, so I could be wrong. In Windows the proce3ss is quite similar. One can either connect the Zoom to the computer via USB or take the memory card out and place it into a reader. Many PCs come with built-in memory card readers. External units are available for only a few dollars. I would be surprised if most of these external units were not also compatible with Macs. Just for example, Here is a link to one I found by searching for memory card reader on Bestbuy.com. It claims to work with Mac.

Good luck.

Maybe try the Zoom forum:

But your best bet might be to contact Zoom support directly.

Aloha,

I have a Zoom H2 , so it might be different. But just hook up the Zoom to the computer. Follow the Zoom instructions for computer hook up. Choose a file that'll show up on the desktop, that should be opened by Itunes. If you want to use garage band , just drag it in. Pretty easy. Hope it works for you.

Thanks everyone for all your help. The problem is the manual says nothing at all, probably an oversight.

Monica's suggestion, the Zoom forum, is where I will go...just signed up. Thanks again, all.
