Here's Chopin Mazurka Op 17 No 4 that I've been studying for the past couple of weeks. There were several movements that were very awkward for me to play. I still need to learn to play it more smoothly.

To me, that sounds outstanding. I like the delicate, nuanced way you play. Your performances make me enjoy pieces I've heard before and didn't think I liked!

The warm tone of your piano is also lovely.

Thanks Larry B for your nice comment. I need to work on my rubato. I noticed _a lot_ of tempo swings that make the song more alive when I listen to pro players playing this piece.

I actually used a digital piano on this one. It's Synthogy Ivory German D.

I enjoyed your recording. You clearly have shown mastery of the notes and pedaling. I do have a two things I'd like to point out to you. Since others have already mentioned rubato, I won't comment on that aspect. wink

1. The melody. A few times, the melody got lost in the accompaniment. It is very important to never allow this to happen. If necessary, exaggerate the melody to help you bring it out more.

2. The accompaniment. This is directly related to the above. The LH parts were overall a bit louder than they needed to be, which makes the melody even easier to lose. Quieting down the LH part will necessarily aid in bringing out the melody.

Give Horowitz--a recognized master of Chopin's Mazurkas--a listen.

Overall, it was a great performance. With a little attention to detail, it will be stunning. smile

Thanks Horowitzian. Yes, my melody got lost in the accomp easily, and the rubato problem made the performance a little boring.

I'm very familiar with the "It's very intimate now. Sssssssh!" video(s). I think that's the best rendition of this piece (to me). It's very lively and melancholy at the same time, it's never boring. I've been practicing to get that same mood.

I'm glad you have seen that video. Horowitz was such a nice fellow in his late years. thumb

Best of luck with getting this Mazurka in tip-top shape. wink
