Hi everybody,

Ive never really listened to jazz but always liked singer-songwriters like Tom Waits, who have a touch of jazz in their songs so Id like to get to know jazz more. I wonder if you can recommend me some (solo piano mostly) jazz albums. Im mostly listening to folk rock, so nothing too complex, because I doubt Id enjoy it.

Check out some of the original Bill Evans. "Alone" for example.

Give Red Garland a try. Something like 'Red Alone'

Check out Dave McKenna. His Maybeck album is awesome.

You might also enjoy Monty Alexander. His Maybeck album is also awesome.

Try Michel Pettrucciani. His 'Theatre des Champs Elysees' album is possibly the finest solo piano I've heard.

Oscar Peterson is a must too.

Then there's Keith Jarrett. His Carnegie Hall is Stellar. Most of his CDs are...
