I will soon hook my DP to a PA system at church.

Should I use two cables to L/R, taking two spots on PA board, or one cable to L?

You should use two, if the PA is stereo. Then you can pan the 2 PA tracks to L & R of center to get the stereo effect of the DP.

If the PA is mono, you can use L (mono) of DP to one channel of the PA. Plugging one into L mono summs the L & R signals if the DP and creates a mono signal.

Thanks Joe

How can I tell if PA is stereo.

What do you mean by "pan L & R of center" ?

If each channel strip in the mixing board has a pan control then it is stereo. Also where the speakers connect to the power out, there will be L/R indication.

'Pan to left' makes the left speakr louder for that particuler channel and vice/verse. When panned to center, equal power is deliverd to both speakers just like a mono amp.

Reference to my previous post: When no plug is inserted in the R jack of the DP, signals are summed to the L jack.

Tried to connect the FP-5 to the sound board at my church, and got a nasty 60 Hz hum. The solution was a DI (direct interface) box to "lift" the "ground loop". Maybe you'll be lucky and not have this problem with your mixing board. I'd be surprised if your church PA system has stereo output--the L(mono) should be fine.
