I saw a 1934 Aeolean Baby Grand recently on sale at craigs list for 250 dollars. It said a few of the hammers were broken.. Is it possible to fix that and would it be cost effective to.

Also how do pianos that age and brand hold up?

Sure, a technician can fix a few hammers. It's likely the piano needs much more than that at the cost of a few grand. Please have a technician/rebuilder look at it before you buy.

What they might be saying is that their technician has told them the piano is beyond economical--or cost-effective--repair and they would like to have someone else bear the expense of having it hauled away.

Have a technician look at it and tell you what it really needs.
