I am a customer, not a re-builder.

What kind of warranty should I expect from my tech on a major re-build of a vintage instrument?

I look forward to hearing your response.

The best warranty is the integrity of the rebuilder. The more formal the warranty, the more likely it is to restrict the services that you will get through it.

Thanks for your responses to my question. I have great faith in my tech and will only use him to service my pianos.

Greetings,
On my rebuilding, I give a lifetime warranty, (mine, not the customers). The warranty is for my work, not the parts, though I have several times gone back and repinned a Renner action that decided to freeze up. That is why I no longer use Renner whippens or shanks. Normal wear and tear is not covered and I discuss this with the customer first.
In 33 years, I have have three incidences where my work was at fault, so there is little cost involved. One was glue failure on some key bushings, two were low bass pins that simply began losing torque. I don't know why but a one size increase in the pin took care of the problem.
