I'm currently on a two-week trip that is turning out to be more frustrating in one particular respect than I had anticipated: I am missing my piano. Terribly.
How do you guys cope with this? It came to a head yesterday as I caught myself planning my day around a visit to the largest piano store in town. Once there, I convinced the salesman I was in the market for a good upright (didn't want to blow my cover). He was very helpful and invited me to have a go at everything on his display floor. It was a good day! Wish I could return without feeling too uncomfortable.
And last night, curiously, I had an elaborate dream involving the restoration of an heirloom instrument belonging to a friend of mine (who in real life shows no interest in music and owns no such instrument). Much to my disappointment it turned out not to have a full 88-key keyboard, which I didn't notice until I had rebuilt it.
I am, in short, on the verge of buying my host a cheap second-hand upright so I may assuage my itchy fingers the next week and a half. I am NOT kidding.
Help! =)
