So there is a Roland and Yamaha Dealer near me
and I've been looking at the Roland HP203 and the Yamaha Clavinova CVP 307.

The Yamaha is $3300 canadian w/o tax
and
The Roland is $2800 canadian w/o tax

Im not sure which one would be better.
Any ideas?

The CVP307 $3300 CAD converts to $2727 USD. I'm not familiar with the CVP307, so I can't say anything about it.

The HP203 $2800 CAD converts to $2313 USD. Remember, though ... that's not the price. The price will be whatever you actually pay. You need to negotiate down from their asking price. In the US, that $2313 asking price is a bit high. I found it last fall for $2000 asking price, before negotiation.

They are different instruments to a degree. The CVP307 is a Clavinova with the built in arranger functionality i.e. styles, 100's of voices etc. It was also a high spec model when it was released but is a number of years old now and has been superceded by the CVP 400 series.

The HP203 is a straight digital piano with no arranger functionality and is newer than the CVP.

If you prefer the Yamaha to the Roland and are not interested in the arranger functions, I would recommend comparing the new CLP300 series with the Roland and pick the one you prefer.

If on the other hand you are after a digital piano and built in arranger, then the Roland isn't suitable.

The Yamaha CVP307 was discontinued about a year ago in favor of the CVP407. If this instrument is new, it has been discounted severely due to the discontinued nature of the model. It is a great product, and the price you have gotten is way below what it sold for.
