Hey people!... again

I have been looking at the N100 before but now.. I'm just totally confused because i found out what the price was.
so here was the specs that i got:
it has GHE and merely 64 notes polyphony!
It has three pedals : sustain Sostenuto and soft pedal..
it looks totally awesome but not too many sounds - not that everyone needs them.
a sweet key-cover - not sliding
but for the price of 2300...
Isn't that a bit much when you think of the action... and polyphony?

We don't have that model in the UK. Yamaha recently unveiled the Avantgrand range which currently has only two models: the N2 and the N3 but these have very sophisticated features such as 256 note polyphony and spatial acoustic sampling as well as a spatial acoustic sound system built in... leaving this model light years behind. It looks more like an over-stated CP-300.

The yamaha page seems to emphasise that the sound system helps emulate the sound of a square grand piano. But with only 64 note polyphony, only 3 levels of dynamic sampling... it would appear to be lagging behind the current CLP/CVP ranges and even the CP-300!

It is an attractive looking article and I could picture in being used in many different contexts. However, unless the sound system (which is in the keyboard and the stand too) really makes a huge difference to the overall tone... I really don't see what they are charging so much money for either... and even then the sound quality alone wouldn't account for the extortionate price.

I really liked the look of the Nocturne N100 too. The max poly wasn't a deal breaker, but when you think about, they are wanting $2k+ for a large, nice looking piece of plastic. The whole case/stand is plastic. Ehhhhh

Yes and yes.

I recall saying here some months ago that the N100 seems to be aimed at the "trendy" market. It's all about the modern look. I wouldn't consider it seriously as a piano, especially considering the excellent other choices in its price range.

certanly the avant grand sounds and looks awesome but i think its a bit more pricy than 2300$

oh well i just think over all yamaha can be a bit overpriced.. like the modus series:
Yamaha Modus H01-AG digital piano, 88 keys natural wood keyboard (real wood on white keys only), 10 sounds, 64 voices polyphony for 7000 EUR approx. O.o
Yamaha Modus F-11 PB designer digital piano, 88 touch response natural wood keys with hammer, moving keys,128 voices polyphony - 7500 € don't like the thought of burning such a big hole in my wallet :P

A bit overpriced? I'd say way overpriced.
I really like the new Modus R01, but @ 4760 euros.
I rather keep my Casio PX-120.
