Hello, I'm a beginner, and I need a good digital piano to practice on. Since I'm just beginning, I shouldn't really buy something very expensive, so I'm considering the Casio PX-120. Does anyone have any experience with this piano? If so, what was it like?

If you're looking for a very inexpensive instrument, this is proably the best choice. It's not quite as good as a $2000 digital piano, but the sound and action are fine for a starter instrument. It's very popular here.

A few people have reported bad units, so be sure that you can exchange it if there's a problem. In general, they're not especially troublesome, though.

If possible, it's better to buy the Casio "H" stand (with built-in pedals) than using an X stand or table, etc. The Casio stand is much more stable and makes the instrument easer to play on. However, it makes the unit harder to move or put away (i.e. in a closet, etc.)

Good Luck!

I recently bought one and am quite satisfied with it. It is a great value. I bought mine for $600 including the stand and pedals at Best Buy.

I played the PX200 before switching to the FP-7. The PX200 is nearly the same as the PX120, and I used it as a starter piano, and I was really satisfied. As a beginner piano it's great. It's fully weighted, has 88 keys with hammer action etc.

But the more advanced You get, the more borring the unit gets. I had to switch my casio for the FP-7, because the sound of the casio is kinda synthetic compared to.

But for a beginner, It's probably the best choise availible. And for the money it costs, definately go for it!

I'm thinking about getting one myself. I'm a beginner to piano playing, but not to music; I have a little Casio (non-weighted) keyboard I use to analyze songs and chords, but I'm finding it's a little limited. I'll probably wait, though, to see if the price of the PX 120 goes down any when the Yamaha P 155 comes out. Gotta figure it may; last week they were available at some places for $399, and I'm sure they weren't losing money on them.

The price on the privia px120 won't be lowered, because the P-155 comes out. They are two very different piano, and are not even close to be direct competitors. They appeal to two different target groups. For 399 USD i'd say buy it!

Over the weekend, Amazon had the piano for $399 but I hesitated about buying one; too bad because now it's back up to $499.

Best Buy had it including the stand and pedals for $599.

I know that the PX 320 has more sounds and connectivity; is the keyboard action the same as for the PX 120? I got a chance to play around on a PX 120 over the weekend, and in my admittedly limited experience, I thought it was a pretty great item for the price.

I believe the keybeds are the same on both.
