Has any ever used the Steinway action flange bushing cloth strips? The strips are about six inches long, and are very nicely (and uniformly) cut and formed; they appear to be very easy to use. The strips do, however, come with some kind of coating on one side. Does anyone know what this coating is for? Is it like the Renner water activated adhesive coating or possibly is it some kind of heat-activated adhesive coating? Maybe it is just some kind of reinforcing coating to help hold the cloth fibers together as the strips are pulled through the flange holes.

I haven't used this cloth but I've gotten some cloth years ago with some dark colored stuff on 1 side and it was graphite lubricant, can't remember where I got it. Obviously not to be used as the side that gets glued. I tear my own strips so they are sized just right and the edges are ragged and form a better seam when pulled through.
