Hi Everyone,

I've been looking into buying an entry level digital piano, and found a Kohler KD-26 on Craigslist for $900 (it's less than a year old). I went to try it out, and quite liked it but what worries me is that I can't find any reviews or other information on this brand online. I scoured this forum, but mostly found discussions on Kohler's digital grands. Does anyone know anything about the KD-26 model, or the reputation/quality of this brand in general?

If I don't buy the Kholer, I'll probably end up getting a new Yamaha YDP-223. I tried out the Yamaha a couple of hours after playing the Kohler and it seemed to me that the Yamaha's keys were somewhat stiffer and more plasticky feeling, but I think I preferred the sound of the Yamaha. I'm going to try to go to a store that has both brands just to give me a better opportunity to compare.

Any thoughts/comments/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Well I doubt anyone has this piano here, but I think it's worth a look. The pianos sound alright, electrics are sub par, guitar is pretty good, strings sound like an accordion, organs are surprisingly good. at $900 it's not really a steal especially if it's almost a year old but it's a good price. triple pedal is a nice feature, but if you can live without it I would get a privia. If it's craiglist you should try the piano that is being sold before it's sold, that's just my opinion

This would be a fine piano. However, the price is too
high, in my opinion. I see it selling new online
for $1300--dp's take a huge drop in value
when used, because they are essentially a computer
with a keyboard and speakers and lose value fast
like a used pc. You can buy good dp's with
the same performance and full warranty for $900 online;
for example, the Casio PX 800 and the M-Audio
DCP 200 are both $900. This apparently has no
record and playback feature. One could argue
that is is not needed, but this is a feature
that appears on even the least expensive dp's,
so for a dp in this price range to not have
one is inexcusable. (The PX 800 and DCP 200
have record and playback.)

Given the lack of warranty, the fact that it
is used, and the lack of a recorder, I would
not pay more than about $450 for it.

Thank you both! After all of that, I decided to go in a completely different direction and will probably get a new Kawai CN22. I tried it out the other day, and I think it's the one for me smile

Thanks again!

I think the Kawai is a wiser choice than the Kohler.

I see the CN22 online at 1100 GBP ($1600 USD). In that price range, you might also want to look at the Roland HP201, Yamaha YDP160, and Yamaha CLP320.

With any of those choices, though, your ears and fingers should be quite happy.
