Looking forward to hearing everyone's pieces laugh

You all are getting to me. I've been playing. And I just submitted my piece, the piece that I'd been working on in March. It came back fairly quickly.

Over 40 pieces already, and they're coming in fast and furious this weekend! WOOT!

And yesterday morning I had the internet guy out because I had been having intermittent drop-outs with my internet, and with the recital coming up that Just Would Not Do. He informed me that my cable router/splitter stuff had been "configured poorly" (to which I pointed out that it had been his company that configured it in the first place...), so he reconfigured it, substituted a new cable for my old one that had apparently been chewed up by a vacuum cleaner, and then swapped out my modem box. The signal is nice and strong now so we're good to go for the big night. thumb

I'm in! Not exactly mistake-free, but I don't want to set the bar too high to allow for future progress (yeah, right grin ). Anyway, it's Inventions #1 and #8, like I've said all along. The list looks great so far. Can't wait for it to start!

I just want to thank all the forum members who have been so helpful in guiding me in my efforts to get my 1st ever recital submission posted. The forum is restoring the focus that I lost when I stopped taking lessons 5 years ago. I'm already thinking about and noodling around with pieces that I might learn and record for Recital #15. grin

Can I post 2 pieces? I have just fund out that my recording is quite bad (i should not put the camera on the piano), so i would like to submit another piece.

I think the general rule is - if you have 2 pieces they should be a medley, and fit together like a medley.

However, if you don't like your recording, you *can* change it - and change it to a completely different piece if you'd like. The only consequence is that your piece will be moved to the end of the list - but that's not really so bad, because a great many of us manage to listen to every piece submitted, and most pieces get several comments.

So don't feel like you have to stick with a piece with which you aren't satisfied for some reason. Any time before the deadline you can change it.

The thing is, that i saw that another member posted 2 Bach inventions so i thought that it can't cost me anything to ask.

I was thinking about submiting Liszt's Funeral prelude, which is really really short (1 minute).

I'm not sure if i can record Chopin again. I had injured hand and i barely played piano in last 14 days, so i will a need few days to "bring" Chopin's march back.

There's a couple of people who have submitted medleys of 2 pieces. I'm not familiar with any of them, so can't say how medley-like they are smile I just reiterated what has been, in past recitals, the general rule -

FWIW - my piece is going to be a wreck this time, and not because it's poorly recorded from a mechanical stand point. I hope to live through both it and the aftermath blush laugh

Cathy

P.S. Here's the wording from previous recitals (I didn't find it in the revised call for submissions, but may have just missed it):

"Submissions are limited to a single piece of music. The piece can be a medley, but the different parts of the medley should flow together like a cohesive piece, not just a collection of pieces. "

Again, I was just reiterating what the convention has been for our previous recitals.

Just saw your post, GreenRain. Cathy was right on target: It's okay to have a medley, but people can submit one recording only. Even though the funeral prelude is so short, I don't think we want to be setting a precedence of multiple entries, especially given how large the recital is getting.

You can either edit the two pieces together into a single mp3 file and re-upload, or choose one of them for the recital and submit the other to one of our piano bars.

I've been too busy to cheat too much and listen to all the submissions, but I listened to this one... and all I can say is: Wow! Just wow!

Thanks for both replys.

So does that mean that if Chopin's Funeral March and Liszt Funeral prelude are uploaded as a one file, then it's ok?

Ps: My pieces are really depressing this time smile

Absolutely, and I think they make a great medley, quite thematically related.

For what it's worth, my "medley" of Inventions is only 2:28 minutes long. I think Inventions are supposed to be one minute each, so I'm taking very leisurely pace and still not hogging a lot of recital time.

My medley is only about 2 minutes as well. They are related I guess in that they are both pieces for the "young" smile
