| 61 | | | Performer's name: | Mark... | | From: | Jersey Shore | | Avatar: | | | Experience: | 2.5 years | | Direct music link: | click to download | | Title of piece: | Prelude in C Major | | Composer: | Johann Sebastian Bach | | Duration: | 02:45 | | Source of music: | "Ambitious" Section from Alfred Adult book 3 | | Instrument used: | Estonia L190 | | Recording method: | ZoomH2 using Audacity | | Technical feedback wanted: | Yes | | Additional info: | The design of this piece reminds me of the Clementi piece I played in another recital. In fact the Alfred book refers you to this Bach piece, when you finish the Clement Prelude in D minor.
This recording has some flaws (recording is a chore for me),but is the cleanest take I was able to record. Like past recital pieces I'm sure it will get even better over time. In fact this piece seems to beg for more attention in order to pull out the subtle flavors that lie inside this wonderful Bach piece. Hope you like it, and thanks for listening... |

Chopin Op 34, No. 2 | | Composer: | F. Chopin | | Duration: | 03:28 | | Source of music: | Sheet music | | Instrument used: | Estonia L190 grand piano | | Recording method: | Zoom H4 to Mac Garageband | | Technical feedback wanted: | Yes | | Additional info: | A beautifully lyrical Chopin Waltz which I learned by participating in one of the ABF study groups a year or so ago. It is sooo difficult to get the right touch to make Chopin sound right. Maybe someday...
This is normally about a 5 to 6 minute waltz so, in the interest of brevity, I omitted the repeat of the middle section.
Please excuse the dog singing along. Unavoidable.
Also, just got the Mac so I'm really unfamiliar with how Garageband works at this point. I'm sure there are things I've missed but it seemed to work at least as well as Audacity with the Zoom. |

It involves a minor variation in the melody in one section (at the 2:17-2:40 mark) as well as an entirely new improvised section toward the end (about 5:50 - 6:38), which is fun to play because it involves extended time on the very highest key on the keyboard. There's also a repeat of the first section that isn't on the album version. Although the sheet music didn't include these variations, I was able to figure it out by ear, which tickled me enormously because I've never been able to play anything by ear before.
Lunch: Lean cuisine frozen dinner (ugh) and Starbucks grande skinny hazelnut latte (yum). |

I'm trying to convince my teacher that I'm ready to play this at our end of May recital. My first Chopin. Exciting! But... super last minute, one take. Merely playing it through at this point! But, it's in, I think! |
