I want to say "Hats Off" to a wonderful tuner/technician now retired. Herbert Allen from Savannah,TN just turned 83 years old last week and is no longer doing piano technician/tuning work. He plied his trade with diligence for probably 40 plus years. All over the South from Alabama to Mississippi to Tennessee, He tuned and serviced pianos with care and professionalism. From concert hall grand piano tunings to backwoods country churches, schools and homes he always worked to provide the best tune possible for his clients. I met Herb over 40 years ago in Sam Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis where he was playing guitar and I was a 15 year old boy playing piano on a Gospel album project. Herb Allen is my friend and mentor in the piano tuning/technician trade. Hats off to a wonderful friend and highly valuable member of the Piano Technician family.
Sincerely,
J. Michael Wilson

Isn't that true? They really know their stuff! This terrific gentleman has been very helpful. He basically gave me all of his tools and he also gave me his tuning client files. Names and #'s from as far back as the 1970's. The only way I could repay him is to tune and tech with as much diligence as he demonstrated over the years. This I intend to do!
