This custom search works much better than the built in one and allows searching older posts.

I've got 49 original rags on my deviantART gallery now. I wrote most of them since January of this year, a couple were from years ago when I was in college. Why is this thread titled 50 rags? Because there is another rag I wrote when I was in college that I have not uploaded yet and am saving for when I get to 100 rags.
I've learned a lot by doing this and hopefully I will continue to learn. I'm trying to get composition lessons but so far have not managed to make actual contact with anybody concerning this. Probably they have enough students already.

Don't you live in New York City?
There should be someone near you who teaches composition privately. Try college or university music departments. Often there will be professors who give composition lessons (or maybe graduate assistants who could use a bit of extra cash.) You may at least get some information. There were people in Albuquerque (Universtity of New Mexico Professors) who taught friends of mine. (I had to learned on my own, but I don't recommend this path; it takes too long.)
Another resource is to take courses in community colleges. (I don' know if your state has a Junior College system.) Sometimes you can sign up for just a course of two. MIT does have online music courses.

I don't have the time to take formal classes so it would have to be a once a week sort of thing.
