Hello, I currently have a Roland KR-1070 Digital Grand Piano. It is very nice, and I have enjoyed it. I am now though looking at an Acoustical Grand. The above mentioned Estonia, I have found a few of them for around 10 -15k. Instead of the 30-35k for a new 190. I have just started getting serious about playing again, and I'm not sure how long this will last. I have heard that numerous upgrades have been done to the Estonia's since 1994. My type of music is Contemporary (Come Sail Away, Linus & Lucy, Bridge over troubled water). Would I really notice that much of a difference, between the 1994 to 2008/9 on the 190 for my type of playing, and music. I'm a realist, and pretty much understand that I will never really get into the intricate classical pieces. Will the 94's be that much of a headache?
Thanks Duane

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Also keep in mind 30-35K buys a heck of a lot of very nice piano now. I have nothing against Estonia and who knows, I might end up owning one but I do suggest you broaden your search.

Oh, Yeah, I forgot to put in that I have been playing quite a few pianos. Bosendorfer, Sauter, Broadmen, Bechstein, Kawai, Estonia, Yamaha, Young Chang. Currently, the Estonia is in the lead. I'm just starting over, with lessons, after a quite a few years off. I'm not going to jump in, I was told I needed to try the shigeru kawai.. So That is my next one to try. Not sure if I'm big into the Plastic action. Can't hurt to try it

Duane, Indrik Laul became the sole owner of Estonia pianos in 2001-2002, after purchasing a majority interest several years earlier. Replying to a Bloomberg interviewer, Laul said, "The sound now has lots more color and a wider range of shades, like giving a painter a wider choice of palette. Between 2000 and 2004 we made 279 changes to the three models, over 80 changes, large and small, in each model."
The interviewer continued, "Would you recommend that a customer buy an older Estonia piano, if one is on sale?" Laul replied, "No, get one made after 2001. They are better."
